Americans paid $5.4 billion for iPhone upgrading

In 2013, the US citizens spent $5.4 billion upgrading their iPhones, MarketWatch reported, citing SellCell.com. The Americans put up $11 billion a year to get the hottest downloads as usual. Annually, 23% of the US population buys brand-new phones.
MarketWatch said that such frequent change of gadgets is closely connected to the marketing policies of US mobile phone companies. Many of them offer the clients tempting credit schemes for the replacement of an old cell phone with a renewed one.
According to ComScore, the Apple’s share on US smartphone market is 41%. Asymco is forecasting that by 2017, the iPhone producer will control 68%.
