Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey has been elected to Walt Disney’s board of directors, Associated Press said on Monday December 23, citing the company’s announcement.
Walt Disney representatives said that Dorsey will take office immediately and stand for election at the board's annual meeting in March 2014.
Jack Dorsey created the microblogging web service in March 2006. In October 2006, Dorsey and his fellow co-founder Biz Stone established Obvious Corporation which was later renamed Twitter. Dorsey was Twitter’s CEO until 2008, when he became chairman. In addition to Twitter, Jack Dorsey launched square mobile payments company in 2009 taking the CEO position.
Jack Dorsey replaced Judith Estrin who served a 15-year term. According to the company’s charter, Estrin who was a member of the Cisco Systems management board cannot run for a new term.
