More and more traditional investors shift their attention to cryptocurrencies and related technology. Notably, a year ago, large investment companies did not show much interest in virtual money.
Reportedly, Norwegian industrial investment company, Aker ASA, has announced its plan to make quite a big investment in the bitcoin ecosystem. For this reason, the company intends to create a separate enterprise - Seetee AS, which will specialize exclusively in investing in the bitcoin ecosystem.
"Aker ASA announced that it has established Seetee AS (“Seetee”), a new company dedicated to investing in projects and companies throughout the Bitcoin ecosystem and which will keep all its liquid investable assets in bitcoin. Seetee is initially capitalized with NOK 500 million," the company said in a release.
Seetee AS is preparing to work closely with other similar companies. Tech firm Blockstream became one of the first partners. Both companies have already signed the cooperation agreement. Seetee AS will primarily focus on "investing in and owning bitcoin, joining the Bitcoin and broader blockchain community as well as establishing partnerships with leading players and launching Bitcoin verification operations."
Aker ASA works with investments in the oil and gas industry, renewable energy, green technologies, offshore assets, and industrial software. Aker can rightly be called a major investor, with a turnover of more than NOK 83 billion.
