Court temporarily lifts Xiaomi trading ban

In a state governed by the rule of law, respect for law is everything. Even governing elites are obliged to obey it, which is not uncommon in the United States.

This time, the US District Court temporarily suspended the US trading ban on Xiaomi. Judge Rudolph Contreras saw the accusations against the Chinese electronics manufacturer groundless given the evidence presented. As a result, the company blacklisted by the Department of Defense won the case. Xiaomi welcomed the ruling and said that it "plans to continue to request that the court declare the designation unlawful and to permanently remove the designation."

Xiaomi was added to the blacklist under the Trump administration on the grounds that it had ties to the Chinese military. Later, the company filed a complaint seeking to be removed from the list. And now, the US federal judge decides that the prosecutor, that is the state, lacks evidence to prove that Xiaomi is controlled by China’s military. In a country governed by the rule of law, Xiaomi can sue local authorities and win the case. Meanwhile, the Defense Department will have to provide more substantial evidence against the electronics company. At the same time, the Chinese manufacturer can openly say that the actions of the US authorities are contrary to the Constitution and not be afraid of any unreasonable search and seizure or other business problems. Until the government proves Xiaomi's links to China’s military, the company can continue its work in the US.
