A UK high court has ruled out that Bitcoin.org can no longer share the 2008 white paper. The document outlines what bitcoin is on its website. This was a great victory to Craig Wright, a computer scientist who claimed he wrote the original document. Following this news, one of the forks of bitcoin, Bitcoin SV (BSV), immediately jumped by 28%. Notably, Wright claims that he is the real creator of bitcoin and BSV is a real bitcoin.
In the copyright infringement case, the defendant was the owner of the Bitcoin.org website under the pseudonym Cobra. Wright won the case after Cobra decided not to speak in his defense in the proceedings in London. As a result, the judge banned the infringement of Wright's copyright in the UK by providing the opportunity to download the white paper from the Bitcoin.org website and in any other way. After the defeat of Wright’s opponent, Bitcoin SV ballooned.
Bitcoin SV was created after the hard fork of the Bitcoin Cash blockchain on November 15, 2018. The currency is supported by a development team called nChain, led by Australian entrepreneur Craig Wright and CoinGeek portal owner Calvin Eyre. The creators of BSV call it "an attempt to return to the original bitcoin protocol". The statement was perceived by many crypto traders with skepticism. The abbreviation SV stands for Satoshi Vision.
Importantly, the hearing in London was held remotely. The defendant was present at the hearing but refused to make statements in order to preserve anonymity. In 2019, Wright took over the copyright to the white paper and the bitcoin source code. Later, the US Copyright Office clarified that it did not recognize him as Satoshi Nakamoto.
