Los Angeles officials closed 'Dumb' Starbucks

The Los Angeles County Health Department closed down a spoof Starbucks coffee shop, as Los Angeles Times reported on Monday. Health officials said the store was shut down because it didn’t have the proper permits. The “dumb” coffee shop was open only for three days. As the paper reported, on Monday, the Canadian comedian Nathan Fielder who hosts the Comedy Central show said in a “press conference” outside the shop that it was his idea. He also told that Comedy Central knew about it.
Agence France-Presse citing the comedian reported the new establishment was not a joke. "This is a real business I plan to get rich from," Fielder deadpanned. He added that he was going to open a second outlet in New York. In Los Angeles, “Dumb Starbucks” coffee shop was opened February 7. The shop copied the menu and decoration at Starbucks, except the word “dumb” that was placed in front of every item in the menu. Fielder also said that the store was operating as an art gallery protected by “parody law”. Corporate giant Starbucks said the “dumb” business was not affiliated with them.
