Bloomberg has recently unveiled the list of the world’s wealthiest families. According to a 2021 report, the Walton clan holds the crown as the most prosperous family in the world. The fortune of the owners of the world's largest wholesale and retail chain is estimated at $238,2 billion.
The Waltons run more than 10,000 stores worldwide. The company's revenue totals $559 billion. Consumers’ loyalty to Walmart's shops has made an Arkansas family richer than Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk. The Mars family, which owns the Mars Wrigley company, and the Koch family, the owners of US petrochemical corporation Koch Industries also entered the top 3.
Only 25 families were included in the rating. According to Bloomberg, their collective wealth rose to $1.7 trillion, notching a gain of 22% compared to 2020.
Earlier, the founder and CEO of the South Korean chemical company, Chunbo, Lee Sang-ryul became a new billionaire. The company makes substances that enable lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles to increase their service life and discharge less frequently. Forbes estimates the fortune of the Lee family at $1.2 billion.
