UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson says the country is going through a “period of adjustment” in the wake of Brexit and the COVOD-19 pandemic. The official supposes that the UK’s current problems, namely the fuel shortage, have been induced by the ongoing crisis.
The Kingdom is now facing the petrol crisis amid the lack of truck drivers delivering fuel to gas stations, which in turn, has also led to supply chain disruptions for certain products. Rising food and petrol prices are hanging over the UK as a sword of Damocles.
Boris Johnson reckons that his country has not been the only one to experience the shortage of workforce, fuel drivers in particular, as well as supply chain disruptions. The United States, China, and many European countries are facing similar problems. The British government is doing its best to solve the issue as soon as possible, Mr. Johnson reassured the population. The Prime Minister says the supply chain disruption might last through Christmas and even New Year. At the same time, Johnson assumes there will be another tax hike three weeks before Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak announces the new annual budget. The Prime Minister emphasizes he would resort to such an unpopular measure as raising taxes only in a no-win situation.
