GM recall of vehicles to cost $300 million

Some defects of GM vehicles may lead to deaths in accidents. The U.S. carmaker General Motors will spend almost 300 million in the first quarter of this year to fix the cars recalled for some defects.
Such issues haunt GM constantly. Only last month the company had to recall 1.6 million vehicles with broken ignition.
GM will face an investigation over other defects. The problem occurred with airbag security system.
“I asked our team to redouble our efforts on our pending product reviews, bring them forward and resolve them quickly,” Mary Barra, GM's CEO, said in a statement.
Criticism was hailed on the company on how it deals with the problem with broken ignitions switched that could turn off the engine on a whim and lead to failure of airbags to deploy.
GM announced the recall of the vehicle in February. Nevertheless, the company admitted that the problem emerged in 2004.
