Japan is set to give $1.5 billion in financial aid to Ukriane, Agence France-Presse reports citing Yoshihide Suga, Chief Cabinet Secretary.
Suga underscored that economic assistance will be provided after Kiev hammers out a deal with the IMF on economic reforms. Of the sum, $1.1 billion will be low interest loans.
The Ukrainian authorities said earlier that the country needs $15 billion urgently. Yet more $20 billion will be required in two years.
In early 2014, the EU approved granting Ukraine financial aid of 11 billion euros. The money will be transferred within two years in case Kiev agrees to abide the IMF plan for economic reforms. In addition, the USA is ready to allocate Kiev $1.5 billion. The draft law is to be passed in Congress.
