Twitter has got on the wrong side of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He cut off access to the microblogging network as it became the platform for the opposition’s activity. This happened after a bulk of hard evidence of massive corruption among the ruling party members, prime minister and his family became available online. Phone conversation leaks, fragments of correspondence have been out in the open by virtue of independent networks, including Twitter. The service contained the scandalous phone call between a “man with a voice that sounds like Erdogan's” and a “man with a voice that sounds like his son’s” about how to withdraw tens of millions of dollars from the country. The response was not long to wait. Erdogan declared war to the internet and started with Twitter. The users who were trying to log in were shown a page citing the court order upon the application of the telecommunications authority. The prime minister said these resources help protesters to coordinate their activities. According to the government, opposition informs their supporters of future meetings, time and place, and changes. It stressed that it’s quite problematic and costly to track such massive amounts of information flow so blocking access seems to be the optimum solution.
