Larry Ellison becomes world’s fifth-richest person

Recently, Oracle founder Larry Ellison saw a rapid surge in his net worth by $15 billion amid a surprise increase in Oracle’s stock value in just one day. So far, Oracle chairman has overtaken Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page in terms of personal wealth. This makes Larry Ellison the fifth-richest person in the Forbes ranking. A significant jump in Oracle stock added $15 billion to Ellison's fortune. According to Forbes, his wealth soared by 16% following a robust revenue report. On December 10, Oracle shares reached their highest value. As a result, Larry Ellison climbed higher on the list of the world’s richest people to surpass the founders of Google. Ellison is now worth $135.7 billion while Sergey Brin’s and Larry Page’s wealth is estimated at $126.3 billion and $121.7 billion respectively. Oracle CEO owns 35% of the company which makes up the biggest part of his wealth. Along with this, Ellison is a member of Tesla’s board of directors and owns a $15 billion stake in the electric carmaker. So, the rallying price of the Tesla stock has also contributed to a rise in the billionaire's fortune. On Thursday, December 9, Oracle published its earnings results for the second quarter of 2021. According to the report, the revenue of the software giant went up by 6% to $10.36 billion, exceeding analysts’ expectations of $10.21 billion. Oracle shares have been climbing for several months in a row, Forbes notes. Even before the publication of strong financial results, the securities have surged by almost 40% since December 31, 2020.
