SpaceX owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk continues to support one of the most famous meme-based cryptocurrencies - Dogecoin. Earlier, Musk pleased market participants with a couple of tweets which provoked a new wave of growth. Now he has moved on to more obvious steps.
The head of electric carmaker Tesla delighted crypto traders with great news. The company announced that it would allow customers to buy some of its branded products using Dogecoin.
"Tesla will make some merch buyable with Doge & see how it goes," Musk said in a tweet.
Against this background, the value of the meme-based virtual currency surged by more than 20% to $0.19.
The Dogecoin cryptocurrency was created as a joke back in 2013. This year, it has become especially popular. Elon Musk bought the meme-based token for his youngest son, he said earlier.
