According to Forbes, co-founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin was included in the list of the most prominent new billionaires in 2021.
Forbes estimates that the fortune of the creator of the Ethereum blockchain platform and the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization is $1.3 billion. Forbes notes that previously Buterin was either included in the list of billionaires or dropped out of it, depending on the value of the cryptocurrency.
Currently, Ethereum’s market capitalization is $490 billion. On Monday, December 27, the asset rose by 3.4% to $4093.
Notable people often fall into the Forbes billionaires list. It features singer and creator of the Fenty Beauty brand Rihanna, as well as the ex-wife of the Microsoft founder Melissa Gates, with a fortune of $1.6 billion. Singer Rihanna became the first billionaire from Barbados. Her fortune is estimated at $1.7 billion.
The lion's share of new billionaires on the Forbes list in 2021 are citizens of China. Their number is 160 people. 100 new billionaires are Americans, 20 people are from Germany and India. In total, the list included 400 rich citizens. Their total fortune exceeded $1 trillion. This year, the richest person on the Forbes list was Miriam Adelson, the widow of the founder of the Las Vegas Sands chain of casinos and resorts. Her inherited stake in the company accounts for most of her $27.1 billion fortune.
