Bitcoin could replace the US dollar, co-founder and ex-CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey claimed.
Dorsey, who is known to be a passionate advocate of the cryptocurrency, replied to a tweet by US rapper and songwriter Cardi B, who asked if crypto assets could replace the world’s reserve currency. He stood by his opinion, despite the mixed response from other Twitter users.
Earlier, the ex-CEO of Twitter left the social media giant to focus on his personal project - the digital payment service provider Square, which was later renamed to Block.
In June, Dorsey said he would leave one or both of the CEO roles he had then to focus on bitcoin, should the project run into difficulties. “If I were not at Square or Twitter, I'd be working on bitcoin,” he stated in July. Jack Dorsey also commented that Wall Street “cannot and never will” be able to control the world’s leading cryptocurrency.
