In the near future, flying vehicles may become a reality. Various prototypes of such aircraft have already been tested. The issue of their serial production is currently being addressed. The involvement of large companies, especially such as American giant Boeing, could make the process much easier.
Boeing has pledged to invest $450 million in Wisk subsidiary and spend hundreds of billions to support the development of pilotless flying taxis. Boeing decided not to waste time producing eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing), or the generation of manned aircraft that many independent start-ups and some aerospace groups are developing. The company intends to create a pilotless flying vehicle.
"Our view is that is the big strategic advantage of Wisk, going straight to a self-flying aircraft, building those principles in at every level of the design and development," Boeing's Chief Strategy Officer Marc Allen said. He added that it would be the first autonomous passenger-carrying vehicle to be certified in the United States.
There is no information about the launch date. However, according to sources, Boeing intends to present it for certification in around 2028.
