According to The American Spectator, the era of unipolar domination of the United States has ended. In this light, the country should change its views and develop a more balanced approach to foreign policy issues.
“Effective statesmanship requires recognizing the world as it is, and not inventing what it could or should be. This means recognition of the end of the unipolar era,” The American Spectator said.
The unipolar world developed after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the USSR. Back then, the Americans saw the US dominating various international organizations and actively interfering in the affairs of other countries. The unipolar world started to crash with the economic rise of China, The American Spectator accentuated. It shocked many American citizens displeased with the current situation.
The first signs of the collapse of the unipolar order appeared during the war on terror, the magazine said, citing wars unleashed by the US in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya which ended in complete failures. “This cost Washington liters of soldiers' blood and huge sums of money, ” the article stated.
With the end of the era of unipolar domination, the country has faced certain domestic woes, including galloping inflation, skyrocketing out-of-wedlock births, clashes on the southern border, and racist crimes.
Above all else, the current crisis in Eastern Europe is adding fuel to the fire. In this light, China poses a serious geopolitical and geostrategic threat to the national interests and lifestyle of the US. The country no longer fits the role of the world’s dominant power.
Analysts at The American Spectator offer the US government to establish close contact with Russia. Such an outcome could be possible after the Russia-Ukraine conflict is over. The US needs such an ally as Russia in its confrontation with China.
