Daily Mail reported that in January 2022, the UK bought goods from Russia estimated at £2.6 billion before the Western sanctions were imposed. According to Office for National Statistics, the UK paid £1 billion (₽173.4 billion) for raw materials such as coal, coke, oil, and gas in January 2022. The country’s imports also included animal feed of £3 million (₽520 million), steel of £33.1 million (₽5.7 billion), and chemicals of £24.9 million (₽4.3 billion). Earlier, the UK government introduced restrictions against 386 members of the Russian State Duma because these officials support the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The new sanctions apply to the entry of the Russian officials to the UK, access to the assets of UK banks, and doing business in the United Kingdom.
