The current geopolitical environment embraces a lot of reviews and forecasts from many experts in the fields of economy and politics. Bulgarian newspaper Duma published Viktor Papazov’s article in which the expert strongly criticized the US economic policy and sanctions. According to Papazov, the US government has made fatal mistakes when it banned energy products imports from Russia. He calls this measure an “economic hara-kiri.” The expert noted that Joe Biden’s administration did not foresee possible consequences of the undertaking. The author explains that the US extracts light crude, and local refineries mix it with heavy one. Notably, the main suppliers of heavy crude are Venezuela, Iran, Russia, and Canada. “Everyone knows very well what kind of “friendly relations” the United States has with Venezuela and Iran. Over the past two weeks, relations with Russia have also moved to a new “friendly level.” They have already reached a point where they have never been,” Papazov emphasized. The expert assures that the imposed restrictions may lead to a shortage of fuel and “help the Democrats fail miserably in the elections in the fall.” Recently, Russia has included the EU countries in the list of “unfriendly” countries, which hurts both Bulgaria and Europe as the oil supply shortages may become widespread.
