The US has summarized the possible outcome of imposing sanctions against Russia. Although the Biden administration has not implemented the full package of sanctions, the Russian economy has been significantly undermined.
At a press briefing, White House press secretary Jen Psaki reported the results of Western sanctions on Russia. According to Psaki, the first package of sanctions was extremely harmful to Russia's economy. "We have basically crushed the Russian economy," she said. Moreover, the White House press secretary added that the US had provided Ukraine with military and humanitarian aid. Therefore, Ukraine could resist much longer than Russia's authorities had expected.
However, Russian experts questioned Psaki's assertions. They argued that Russia’s economy had been considerably weakened for a long time. Therefore, it could not have been crushed by the US or EU sanctions.
