Currently, Tesla is facing new challenges. One of Tesla's main suppliers was forced to suspend production due to a new COVID-19 outbreak in Shanghai.
Aptiv is one of China’s largest auto wire producers. Apart from local carmakers, the company supplies wiring to such auto giants as Tesla, GM, Ford, Toyota, and Volkswagen. However, Aptiv has halted its production. Shanghai authorities have imposed the biggest lockdown since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The government enforced restrictions on the operation of public transport in the city. Moreover, many regular enterprises moved their employees to remote work. Shanghai’s almost 25 million residents are required to comply with strict lockdown rules.
Tesla’s plants in Shanghai were affected by these measures as well. Aptiv’s workers have to stay home and follow the isolation and quarantine guidelines. Tesla’s representatives have not commented on the situation yet. Therefore, it is not clear when Aptiv will restart operation.
