Bloomberg now listing bitcoin prices on financial terminals

The financial media corporation Bloomberg announced that it has launched regular bitcoin price listing. Bloomberg acknowledged that the most famous cryptocurrency has turned into weighty assets capable to affect an economy and financial markets. Bloomberg is going to draw current prices from Kraken and Coinbase bitcoin exchanges as well as a result of tracking related virtual currency news and social media posts from more than 100,000 sources. "Clients are increasingly interested in bitcoin and other digital currencies and are looking for tools to better monitor developments in these markets," Bloomberg stated in a news release. From now on, over 320,000 global subscribers can monitor and chart data via Bloomberg professional service. Bloomberg, financial services market information vendor, provides access to exchange terminals where traders and economists around the world watch online currency exchange rates and the latest news. Nowadays, Bloomberg terminals are a key part of the trading infrastructure used by banks, hedge funds, and other financial professionals, a group whose money could bring especially high liquidity to bitcoin trading. For the reference, bitcoin is not considered a debt instrument, it is defined as a medium of exchange. So, the digital cash can be used as a form of payment for products and services. Besides, bitcoins can be exchanged for official currencies and securities. However, unlike conventional money, the bitcoin exchange rate is highly volatile. The value of one bitcoin can spike rapidly from $200 and collapse to $1.6 in just a day. Bitcoin has been arising concerns that “this shady online currency” can be used for illegal activities. In October 2013, the U.S. FBI shut down the Silk Road online black market trading in drugs and weapons and seized 144,000 bitcoins worth $28.5 million at the time. At present, over 12 million digital coins are available in circulation.
