Gautam Adani, an Indian billionaire industrialist, has overtaken Microsoft Founder Bill Gates to become the fourth-richest person, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Adani’s fortune soared to $113 billion, making him top 4 on the list of the world’s 500 wealthiest people. Notably, Bill Gates is lagging by just $1 billion and is holding the fifth spot with $112 billion. In 2022, Gautam Adani has managed to earn $36 billion - the fastest capital growth rate. At the same time, Gates’ fortune shrank due to donations and tech stocks selling. Adani amassed his fortune by selling agricultural products and coal. He made it to the top 4 in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, where only American tech tycoons were dominating. His companies attracted an abundance of investors, including French firm TotalEnergies SE and Warburg Pincus. In November 2021, Adani pledged to invest $70 billion in green energy and donate $7.7 billion to a range of social causes. However, none of those pledges has been fulfilled yet.
