Gas supplies through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline are conducted with disruptions. From time to time, Gazprom closes the valve under different excuses, trying to dodge contract violations at the same time. Natural gas supplies to Europe were completely halted for three days at the end of August via its main pipeline into the region according to the data from gas transmission system operators. Gazprom confirmed the shutdown explaining it with the unscheduled maintenance works at the remaining Trent 60 gas compressor station performed jointly with Siemens. Russia’s energy giant noted that “upon the completion of maintenance operations, provided that no malfunctions are identified, gas transmission will be resumed at the rate of 33 million cubic meters per day.” One can hardly tell whether such malfunctions will be discovered or not. Meanwhile, Gazprom has released a video titled “Winter will be long.” The two-minute clip shows a worker turning off the supplies, sending the gas pressure needle to zero, and warns Europeans about a long winter with freezing cold weather and heavy snowstorms sweeping all over the continent.
