It’s high time to abide by her promises as the winter is approaching.

Given the skyrocketing energy prices in the UK, Prime Minister Liz Truss is planning to freeze natural gas and electricity bills for millions of households. At the election, she introduced a scheme developed by the energy company, Scottish Power. The scheme could cost around £100 billion ($116 billion) with 2-year freezing of energy bills. Notably, this initiative was widely supported by other energy companies.

Sources close to the matter claim that British Energy Minister Kwasi Kwarteng, who is seeking the post of the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, is ready to discuss this scheme. Truss has been mulling over a mechanism allowing to freeze energy bills for quite a long time. The government needs to take tough measures to find a solution to the energy problem so that stop fearing the start of the autumn and winter seasons each year, she noted. Truss also pledged to make radical decisions to revive the UK economy.
