According to CNBC, General Motors temporarily halted advertising on Twitter after Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk completed his takeover of the social media company.
The largest US automaker announced it would stop paid ads due to uncertainty surrounding Twitter’s current policy, following Musk’s buyout.
Tesla’s main competitor said it paused advertising as it evaluates Twitter’s direction under its new boss. Although General Motors temporarily suspended advertising it would still continue using the platform to interact with customers, CNBC reported.
“We are engaging with Twitter to understand the direction of the platform under their new ownership. As is the normal course of business with a significant change in a media platform, we have temporarily paused our paid advertising. Our customer care interactions on Twitter will continue,” the company said in a statement.
On October 28th, Elon Musk took control of Twitter. The billionaire explained the acquisition of the social media giant with the desire to help humanity evolve and stressed the importance of a single digital platform where users could express themselves freely.
