Epidemiological services of Uzbekistan banned pork imports from the United States, RIA Novosti reported on Thursday, citing a representative of the State Customs Service. According to the source, the decision to impose a ban was caused by reports about the swine virus epidemic in the US.
The amount of the US pork previously imported to Uzbekistan was not announced.
“I don’t think that the ban on import of the US pork is able to affect food supply security in the republic,” the customs representative said.
