Hillary Clinton says a "Yes" vote in Scottish referendum to be a "loss for both sides"

Speaking to journalists, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has expressed the hope that Scotland does not become independent from the rest of the UK. US President Barack Obama made similar statement only a week ago as he also does not share positive emotions over the planned referendum. Obama said that the US wants to see the UK remaining united, but the people of Scotland make the final choice. There is a bit of time left before the fateful date – on September 18 the Scottish nation will answer the main question at the referendum, the results of which will set the further tone of relations between Scotland and England. The country will whether be independent or remain the part of Britain as it has been for the last 307 years. In addition to the upcoming “divorce” with Scotland, the US president is discontented with Great Britain's relationship with other countries, with the whole European Union to be precise. Barack Obama clearly indicated that he does not support the UK leaving the European Union as for Washington it is important to know its partner is a part of the large European project. These statements appeared after British Prime Minister David Cameron had expressed his intention to revise the existing relationship of Britain with the EU to regain lost ground. Such a stance towards the EU is one of the main points of his election program. Cameron promised that if he is re-elected next year, he will hold a popular referendum in 2017, for the British to decide whether to stay in the EU or get out of the bloc. "Europe needs Britain," Hillary Clinton commented this initiative, and stressed that "it is Britain plays an important role in the continent, especially in the post-crisis period".
