Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk continues to shape the future of Twitter. Having gained control of his favorite mouthpiece, he fired its top executives, launched a paid subscription service, deactivated his ex-girlfriend Amber Heard's account, and restored the accounts of Kanye West and Donald Trump. More exciting changes are still ahead.
The new owner of the social media platform has ambitious plans. Elon Musk intends to make Twitter one of the most valuable companies globally. He predicts a promising future for the company. “I think there is a tremendous amount of potential … and I think it could be one of the most valuable companies in the world,” Musk said at an investor conference in New York.
However, not all Twitter employees can expect to keep their jobs. After Elon Musk took ownership of the platform, mass layoffs began at Twitter. For now, it is impossible to estimate how many staff members will be axed. In total, the company has over 7,500 employees.
Notably, Musk completed his takeover of Twitter in late October. The entrepreneur headed the social media network and almost immediately dissolved its board of directors. He also decided to eliminate nearly half of Twitter's workforce. Furthermore, the billionaire unveiled plans to do away with permanent bans of Twitter accounts and charge fees for some additional features, including verification.
