According to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the United States and China had extremely complex relationships in 2022. The latter had to defend its interests as well as counter provocations and pressure from the world's largest economy, the official stated.
China was forced to take retaliatory measures aimed at confronting the US government’s aggressive actions. Chinese authorities acted decisively, focusing on national interests, the diplomat stressed. Along with deepening economic integration, "no conflict, no confrontation, and peaceful coexistence are in the common interests of both countries," Wang Yi is confident.
China's foreign minister believes that fierce competition between the two major powers is harmful, while "seeking cooperation is a necessity not a choice."
Earlier, the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson urged the United States to change its stance towards China so that the countries could lay the foundation for the healthy development of Sino-US relations based on win-win cooperation.
