A boy found allergic to his iPad

An 11-year American boy is allergic to his iPad, the U.S. media write citing an article from the Pediatrics journal. Such a diagnosis was given by doctors from San Diego hospital after the examination. The specialists studied severe skin rashes. Skin testing showed the positive reaction to nickel, which might be contained in his iPad. The boy has been using the tablet daily since 2010.
According to Dr Sharon Jacob, a dermatologist at Rady Children’s Hospital, to get rid of the allergy, a boy might need a treatment with steroids and antibiotics.
The latest researches conducted by medical journals suggest that more and more people suffer from allergy to their mobile devices containing nickel: cell phones, laptops, and smartphones. Dr Sharon Jacob stated that these days 25 percent of children tested positive for nickel, while this number was 17 percent ten years ago. It is unclear yet whether all the iPad models or other Apple products contain nickel or not. Apple spokesman Chris Gaither did not comment on this matter.
It is recommended to use cover cases or membranes to avoid skin contact with the electronic device.
