The European Commission put forward a proposal to arrange a meeting in Moscow between EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger and Russia’s Energy Minister Alexander Novak to discuss gas supply issues. Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Energy said that the meeting slated for July 17, 2014 was rescheduled for the next week. It is expected that the upcoming meeting will be devoted to the key issues of EU-Russia relations in the energy sector. Alexander Novak noted that the Russian party plans to negotiate the problems associated with the construction of the South Stream pipeline. Before that, following the talks with Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan, EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger said that the EC looks forward to the resumption of negotiations between the European Union, Russia and Ukraine until the end of July 2014.
