Recently, juice consumption has been declining in Russia. So, the juice market shrank 5% in 2013. This state of affairs makes large companies close down their production facilities in Russia. Coca-Cola Co. decided to liquidate two of its four fruit juice plants in Russia in response to falling demand. The company closed the two plants run by its Nidan unit on June 1 and will transfer some of their capacity to the other juice unit, before the year-end. Estimating the company revenues for the first half of 2014, Coca-Cola has fallen short of $25 million phasing out its activities in Russia. “Operating revenues dropped $25 million since January to June as a result of restructuring and transferring the Russian juice factories to one of Coca-Cola’s partners,” the communique reads. Besides, it should be noted that Coca-Cola’s net profit amounted to $4.21 billion sinking 5% during the first six months in 2014 as compared to the same period a year ago amid the global decline in demand. It means that a share was valued at $0.95 since January to June versus $0.98 apiece in the same period in 2013. In the second quarter of 2014, Coca-Cola gained the net profit of $2.6 billion which is 3% lower than in the same quarter last year. The net profit equaled $0.58 per share in Q2 2014 against $0.59 in Q2 a year ago. This indicator turned out to be worse than the forecast as analysts had expected a share’s value to be $0.63. Coca-Cola was founded in 1892. The company has been producing such popular beverages as Coca-Cola, Fanta, and Sprite. Being headquartered in Atlanta (Georgia, U.S.), the corporation has been delivering its products to over 200 countries around the world. Coca-Cola launched its flagship beverage to the Soviet market in 1980s.
