The U.S. inflation data for April is due at 8:30 am ET Wednesday. Ahead of the data, the greenback held steady against its major counterparts.
The greenback was worth 129.86 against the yen, 1.0551 against the euro, 1.2356 against the pound and 0.9898 against the franc as of 8:25 am ET.
