France's payroll employment increased slightly in the third quarter, data published by the statistical office INSEE showed on Wednesday.
Payroll employment increased only 0.1 percent, or 36,700 in the third quarter. The rate was 0.1 percent in the second quarter, or 26,800.
Nonetheless, payroll employment exceeded the previous year level by 0.8 percent.
Private as well as public payroll employment gained 0.1 percent each in the third quarter. Data showed that temporary employment decreased for the third straight time in the third quarter. Employment dropped 2.1 percent after a 0.9 percent fall.
Payroll employment in agriculture and construction dropped 1.0 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively, while that in industry grew 0.4 percent.
Excluding temporary work, private payroll in market services rose by 0.3 percent sequentially. Payroll employment in non-market services grew 0.2 percent.
