New Zealand posted a seasonally adjusted merchandise trade deficit of NZ$1.234 billion in November, Statistics New Zealand said on Tuesday.
That missed forecasts for a shortfall of NZ$1.200 billion following the NZ$1.730 billion deficit in October.
Exports were worth NZ$5.99 billion, up from NZ$5.37 billion in the previous month.
Imports came in at NZ$7.23 billion, up from NZ$7.10 billion a month earlier.
