In December, New Zealand reported a merchandise trade deficit of NZ$323 million, as announced by Statistics New Zealand on Monday.
This figure surpassed the predicted deficit of NZ$975 million and was significantly lower than the revised November deficit of NZ$1.250 billion.
Year on Year exports decreased by 8.7 percent to NZ$5.94 billion; this was marginally lower than the revised figure of NZ$5.95 billion from the previous month, which was initially reported as NZ$5.99 billion.
Similarly, annual imports decreased by 13 percent to NZ$6.26 billion, less than the revised figure of NZ$7.20 billion from the previous month, which was first reported as NZ$7.23 billion.
