Japan Leading Index Falls More Than Estimated

The leading index of Japan experienced a slightly more significant decline than initially projected in November, reaching its lowest point in just over three years, according to preliminary data released by the Cabinet Office on Friday.

The leading index, an indicator of future economic activity, decreased to 107.6 in November from 108.9 in the preceding month. The preliminary report originally put the figure at 107.7.

This represented the lowest score since October 2020 when it stood at 106.5.

The coincident index, which reflects the current state of economic affairs, fell to an 8-month low, slipping down to 114.6 from 115.9 in the previous month. The initial estimate was 114.5.

Additionally, the data revealed that the lagging index also dwindled to 105.7 from 106.3 in October. The November score underwent an upward revision from the initial reading of 105.2.
