The Bank of Japan has reported a year-on-year increase of 2.4% in producer prices for the month of December. This was in concurrence with the expectations and it sustained the November statistics after it underwent a revision from 2.3%.
With respect to the monthly progression, producer prices saw a rise of 0.1%, indicating a slowdown from the 0.3% witnessed in the prior month.
Reviewing the data for the entire year of 2023, there was a 2.0% surge in producer prices, which is a hastening from the 1.8% observed in 2022.
