Qiagen (QGEN) has announced its collaboration with Pennsylvania State University to jointly establish a research and education facility geared towards the rapidly emerging field of microbiome sciences. This collaboration will serve as a development and testing ground for Qiagen's new product, while also acting as a pivotal resource for industry-related research and training for budding scientists.
Nitin Sood, who is the Senior Vice President and heads up the Life Sciences Business Area at Qiagen, remarked about the partnership’s shared vision to interlink the health states of humans, animals, and ecosystems. He further outlined the hope that the collaborative efforts between the leading academic institution in microbiome research, Penn State, and Qiagen would influence the direction of research, education, and outreach in the nascent field of microbiome sciences. Ultimately, they aim to foster the careers of new scientists showing interest in this field. Furthermore, Sood expects the initiative to cultivate bond with the microbiome research community, facilitating the improvement and development of new products geared towards microbiome research based on the feedback directly received from customers.
