Shares of Humana Inc., a health insurance company, have plummeted over 10% this Thursday morning following the announcement of an increased loss in the fourth quarter. The company's full-year earnings per share (EPS) forecast drastically failed to meet analysts' expectations.
Compared to a deficit of $0.12 per share a year earlier, Humana posted a loss of $4.42 per share in the fourth quarter. After discarding one-off items, the loss was reported at $0.11 per share, falling short of the average Thomson-Reuters analyst poll prediction of an earnings per share of $0.15.
For the financial year 2024, Humana anticipates the adjusted EPS to be around $16, significantly lower than the consensus estimate of $29.1. Currently, Humana's share price stands at $361.70, within a 52-week range of $350.00 to $541.21.
