Tyson Foods, Inc. announced on Thursday the opening of its new $355 million, 400,000-square-foot food production plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This facility is intended to increase the company's ability to produce bacon, including the introduction of new flavors, cuts, and prepared products such as fully cooked bacon.
The plant plans to produce two million pounds of superior quality Jimmy Dean and Wright Brand bacon retail products and bacon for the food service industry weekly. This effort is expected to support Tyson Foods in meeting both current and future market demands, and it is set to create around 450 new jobs in the southcentral region of Kentucky.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear praised the opening, remarking that it marks a significant step forward in the state's endeavor for economic development and job creation. The company pointed out that the facility's design prioritizes the safety and well-being of its employees, integrating advanced robotic technology to manage physically demanding tasks.
