The CAC-40 index experienced a downturn, mirroring its European counterparts that underwent a loss of their recent advancements due to anxiety surrounding the European Central Bank's (ECB) upcoming review of monetary policy.
The CAC-40 is now valued at 7,427.41, marking a slight decrease of 0.38 percent from its previous close at 7,455.64. Today's fluctuation range was between 7,460.52 and 7,422.32.
Just 11 out of 40 stocks listed on the index are currently registering a positive performance.
Publicis Groupe led the gains with an increase of 2.2 percent. Other companies such as Alstom, Carrefour, Edenred and Airbus also saw their stocks increase by more than half a percent. On the negative side, Teleperformance noticed the biggest decline, with a dip of 4.7 percent.
STMicroelectronics saw a significant drop of 2.8 percent. Other companies that experienced a decline of more than a percent include Stellantis, Sanofi, Renault, Kering and Danone.
The Dollar Index saw a marginal reduction of about 0.02 percent declining to 103.21, down from 103.24 the previous day. The EUR/USD ratio stands slightly up by 0.06 percent at 1.0890.
Uncertainty revolving around the ECB's potential interest rate trajectory has caused an increase in bond yields on Thursday. Yields on ten-year French bonds have increased from 2.848 percent to 2.859 percent.
Earlier data released by the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) indicated that the manufacturing climate index for France remained steady at 99 in January, against an expected 100. Meanwhile, initial jobless claims in France stood at a decrease of 1.40 thousand in December, compared to an increase of 5.20 thousand in November.
