The Swiss market had a modest uptick on Friday, remaining in positive territory throughout the session. The SMI benchmark, fluctuating between 11,231.49 and 11,300.86, closed with a gain of 25.77 points or 0.23%, settling at 11,239.68.
UBS Group saw a sharp rise of 2.63%. Other companies that saw healthy growth included ABB, Zurich Insurance Group, and Logitech International which all rose between 1.1 and 1.3%. Swiss Life Holding, Swiss Re, Holcim, and Lonza Group also saw mild advances of 0.6 to 0.75%.
On the other hand, Kuehne & Nagel saw a fall of 1.45%. Other corporations which saw dips included Givaudan, Geberit, Novartis, and Sonova, Partners Group, Alcon, and Sika all falling close to 0.5%.
In the middle price index, Meyer Burger Tech saw an impressive increase of more than 12%. Other companies like Avolta, Flughafen Zurich, Baloise Holding, and Georg Fischer rose between 1.4 and 1.65%. Moderate gains were also observed in Adecco, Julius Baer, SIG Combibloc, Temeons Group, and Helvetia.
However, Straumann Holding and Tecan Group saw decreases of 2.1% and 1.9%, respectively. Swatch Group and Galenica Sante also experienced declines, ending nearly 1.5% down. A few other companies that ended weak include Ems Chemie Holding, VAT Group, Clariant, and ams OSRAM AG.
