The morale of consumers in Switzerland saw a boost for the third consecutive month in January. This improvement is attributed to enhanced economic and financial expectations, as shown in survey data released by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) on Thursday. The consumer confidence index recorded an uptick, increasing from -44 in December to -41 in January. This is in comparison to the -35 score a year ago, and -53 recorded in October.
The sub-index for economic expectations also showed an improvement, rising from -29 to -28. According to the SECO, consumers currently perceive that the economy has hit rock bottom and is poised to rebound.
