Statistics Korea announced on Monday that industrial production had a seasonally adjusted increase of 0.8 percent in January. Although this progress fell just short of the anticipated 1.0 percent climb, it was a rise from December's 0.6 percent.
Industrial production experienced a dip within the mining industry, while it saw an increase in the construction industry and services sector. When compared annually, industrial output took a substantial leap of 12.9 percent. This surge surpassed the predicted 9.3 percent and was a significant improvement from the previous month's 6.2 percent.
Furthermore, the bureau reported an uptick of 0.8 percent in the value of retail sales on a monthly basis. This increase, moving up from December's 0.6 percent, was mainly due to an increase in the sales of communication equipment, computers, and cosmetics.
