The Swiss market closed slightly lower on Tuesday due to an unstable session. Investors were hesitant to make substantial movements ahead of key economic activities in the US and Europe.
The benchmark Swiss Market Index (SMI), fluctuated between 11,447.89 and 11,504.02, eventually closing with a loss of 14.06 points, or 0.12%, at 11,463.74.
Kuehne & Nagel dropped almost 2%. Similarly, Lonza Group and Partners Group both lowered by around 1.75%, while Logitech International declined by 1.59%.
Sika, ABB, Alcon, Holcim, Richemont, and Geberit also dipped, with losses between 0.6 and 1.2%.
However, Zurich Insurance Group saw a 1.01% increase. Swiss Re, Swiss Life Holding, Roche Holding, UBS Group, and Novartis suffered losses ranging from 0.4 to 0.6%.
In the Mid Price Index, VAT Group fell nearly 6%, whereas Meyer Burger Tech and Sandoz both declined by around 4.8%. Clariant also experienced a decrease, ending down 2.7%.
Schindler Ps, Schindler Holding, Ems Chemie Holding, and Galenica Sante also closed notably lower.
On a brighter note, SGS and BKW rose by 2.7% and 2.4%, respectively. Meanwhile, SIG Combibloc, Adecco, and ams OSRAM AG also made gains, advancing between 1.2 and 1.6%.
