Dollar Tree Inc. recently released its earning highlights. It reported a loss of $1.709 billion in the fourth quarter, compared to a profit of $452.2 million in the same period the previous year. Earnings per share (EPS) stood at -$7.85 in the fourth quarter, versus $2.04 in the equivalent period last year. However, after excluding certain items, Dollar Tree reported an adjusted earning of $555.7 million, or $2.55 per share for the period, slightly under the analysts' projection of $2.65 per share. Revenue saw an increase, totaling $8.639 billion in the fourth quarter as opposed to $7.720 billion in the same period last year.
