The inflation rate in Spain eased to a six-month low in February, as confirmed by the final data from the country’s statistical office, INE.
Consumer price inflation decreased to 2.8 percent in February, dropping from 3.4 percent the previous month. This rate was not only in line with expectations, but also the lowest since August of the prior year.
Additionally, the inflation harmonized according to EU standards also reached a six-month low at 2.9 percent, confirming initial estimates and down from 3.5 percent in January.
Core consumer price inflation, which excludes volatile items like food and energy, dipped slightly to 3.5 percent from 3.6 percent.
On a month-to-month basis, the consumer price index rose by 0.4 percent in February, compared to a 0.1 percent increase in January. The February figures were adjusted upward from the initial estimation of 0.3 percent. The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) also experienced a 0.4 percent increase on a monthly basis, offsetting a 0.2 percent decline in January.
