According to the latest labor force statistics from the Census and Statistics Department, Hong Kong's unemployment rate remained consistent during the December-February period. The rate of unemployment, adjusted for seasonal influences, matched the 2.9 percent figure from the November-January period.
The data further revealed that the underemployment rate stayed at 1.0 percent, unchanged from the previous period. On a non-adjusted basis, the unemployment rate remained the same at 2.7 percent. The total number of unemployed individuals dropped slightly to 102,300 from 102,600 in the prior period.
Chris Sun, Hong Kong's Secretary for Labour and Welfare, commented on the situation saying, "We expect the labor market to remain tight in the near future, accompanied by ongoing growth of the local economy."
